What is a Chemical Peel?
Chemical Peel involves the application of a chemical solution to your body that has wrinkles, been sun damaged, or is unevenly pigmented. The concentration and the type of the chemical solution will determine the depth of the burn to achieve superficial, medium, or deep action. The therapy is tailored specially to take in to account the requirement of your skin.

Delicate areas of the face will be protected with petroleum jelly or Aloe Cream
For superficial and medium Chemical Peels, the correct chemical solution is applied and left on for 10 to 15 minutes, and then gently wiped off. The entire procedure takes about half an hour. You might feel slight burning / stinging during the procedure which subsides quickly.
For deep Chemical Peel, the solution is applied to the treatment area; and the therapy takes about 1 to 2 hours.
The doctor will apply petroleum jelly (in case of superficial and medium Chemical Peels) or water-proof dressing tape (in case of deep Chemical Peels) to the treated area. You may experience some swelling, redness, mild pain, oozing or bruising of the area. However, within 10 days, new skin cells begin to form, which will be red and thin at first, but will attain normal skin tone and texture within a few weeks. You must moisturize your skin daily and use a sun-screen to protect your skin from the destructive effects of sun and pollution.
